We finally took it easy and relaxed after days of running by pitching a camp on one place for a couple of nights. As I told you before, the place was magical. In this and the following posts you'll be able to appreciate its beauty.Jebel (Mount) Aweinat includes possibly the highest point in Libya, but the highest peak honour goes to Jebel Arkno some 15 kilometres to the north since Aweinat's highest peak (1934 m, if I'm not wrong) is on Sudanese territory. The circumference of the Aweinat mountan is a surprising 350 km!
We chose one of its valleys for our camp where our supplies from Kufra finally reached us after days of delay. A new (well, that's at least how we called it) tyre for Hussam, several hundreds of litres of water (Saleh, where have you been two days before???), oil, bulbs, laces, a gas tank, Nescafé and Nescafé Cappuccino (hooray!), bread which four days ago - before Saleh's rear differencial case cracked in the middle of the desert, where he also repaired it - was fresh, batteries, cookies (hooray!), maccaroni (my God, another lifetime supply) and... fuuuueeeeelll!!!! Hooooo-raaaay!!!! Then I started understanding pretty well the emotions in the oasis when a caravan would arrive and bring unexpected delights!
The loop along the Southern and South-eastern border was about to be wrapped at that time, Kufra being a mere 291 km away in straight line, which finally meant some 320 km of road in practice.
